Just seen pictures via a Facebook page showing the process of 514M being cut up to become a pick up type project. Everything from the door frames up and back has been stripped. Doesn't look like the body made it off in one piece, so nothing salvageable it seems.
So sad.

Hi John
Thanks for the prompt reply, that all sounds very frustrating/upsetting. Personally I don't understand the increasing desire to strip & reconfigure Commandos like this. There are still so many that are incomplete/stripped & ripe for restoration as it is that don't even require the effort to take a perfectly decent one to that state. Surely a purist would want it as original?
I am often in touch with the Odd the owner of TPO 513M in Norway, who I intends to restore back her to original condition, but is missing the same parts. So should the worst have happened to 514, then there is a very worthy candidate waiting in the wings.
I don't suppose you have the tank to?
I am local to you so would be happy to help liaise if need be - I'll message you my contact details.
It's my dream to see one of the West Sussex Commandos restored and I kick myself over not having been able to have saved one myself, one day hopefully.

Hi , i recently sold TPO 514M. the buyer told me he was going to do a full restoration however i later found out it was on ebay and that he was going to break it down and turn in a standard body motor. If anybody knows where it is if it was sold on then i still have several parts important to keeping it origanal. Items i have. Extending light mast. Roof brackets, Bench that extends out the rear body on rollers. So please keep an eye open for the new owner. The guy that brought it said he would collect them another day but when i contacted him he said he didnt want them that was when i smelt a rat.

Hi John, was sorry to see you had sold TPO 514M after all the hard work that went in (and annoyed with myself that only now I see that you had let us all know it was available).
Any idea where it is now? I thought I saw it again on eBay with the dreaded suggestion that it could be stripped of fire-fighting equipment (which would be tragic, as it had so much original gear)
I have a thing for these West Sussex Commandos, so be keen to know how it's doing (maybe one day it will work out for me to own one).
